Performing Arts Touring Working Group

In March 2003, the Cultural Ministers Council agreed to consider national performing arts touring issues.

State and territory arts ministries provided information to the Cultural Ministers Council Secretariat on the scope of their touring programs.

In October 2003, the Cultural Ministers Council established a working group to develop a paper on performing arts touring for the Cultural Ministers Council meeting in February 2004. The working group members were the Australian Government, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia.

In February 2004, the Cultural Ministers Council agreed to fund a two-stage consultancy to examine a range of issues relating to current government support for performing arts touring across all jurisdictions and develop a consistent framework for governments to consider their future support of performing arts touring.

The National Performing Arts Touring Working Group presented the consultancy draft report to the Cultural Ministers Council in September 2006, and the working group ceased.
