Indigenous intellectual property toolkit

The Cultural Ministers Council has agreed to develop an Indigenous Intellectual Property (IIP) Toolkit to:

• promote greater links between business and Indigenous communities about IIP to enhance greater economic independence
• raise awareness in Indigenous communities, consumers and commercial operators of the need to protect IIP
• enhance coordination of existing networks of Indigenous and non indigenous organisations working in the area of IIP.

The working group is chaired by Western Australia (Department of Culture and the Arts). Other participating jurisdictions are the Australian Government (including the Australia Council), New South Wales, the Northern Territory and Queensland.
